A Day at the Beach

Whether you are looking for a long walk alongside the sea or somewhere to stretch out in the sand, a trip to North West North Norfolk isn’t complete without venturing to the coast. Cliff Farmhouse B&B Suites is blessed to be only a stone’s throw from some of the countries most charming beaches. Keep reading to find out more about some of our favourite beaches in the area.

Hunstanton

A unique gem of the Norfolk coast and one of the only beaches on the East of England you can watch the sunset into the sea. Hunstanton beach is a versatile destination that offers two completely different experiences to visitors.

Along the promenade of Hunstanton Beach, you will find arcades, funfairs, crazy golf, Sea Life Hunstanton, Searles Sea Tours boat trips, bowling, ice cream parlours, fish and chips and so much more. It is the perfect day out for families with plenty to keep everyone entertained, and a bounty of refreshments when its time for a rest stop.

For a more relaxed beach experience simply head towards Old Hunstanton Beach, which is a short 5-minute walk from Cliff Farmhouse. Hunstanton’s famous striped cliffs of red chalk, white chalk and carrstone mark the transition from the new town to the old. Here you can lounge on the sprawling sandy beaches or climb the rolling sand dunes. Old Hunstanton Beach also marks the start of the Norfolk Coast Path and is considered one of the best spots in England for windsurfing.

Brancaster Beach

A clean flat beach that spreads as far as the eye can see with the perfect conditions for sandcastles. Brancaster Beach is a favourite with families looking for a bit more space to spread out. With a convenient car park (fees apply), WC and kiosk selling refreshments and beach essentials it’s easy to see why.

For an extra spot of excitement scan the shoreline when the tide is out to catch a glimpse of a shipwreck or even a colony of seals. With moorings located along The Wash this area is popular with small leisure crafts looking for a day out sailing or fishing.

Holkham

Backed by the Holkham Nature Reserve, Holkham Beach is a shining example of how special the Norfolk Coast is. Considered one of the best beaches in the country, Holkham beach has been favoured by filmmakers for its beauty. Best immortalised by Gwyneth Paltrow walking across the white-gold sand in the closing scenes of the Oscar-winning Shakespeare in Love.

A nature lovers paradise Holkham Beach is backed by a pinewood, in which many rare bird species have been spotted. At low tide the beach stretches for miles, providing plenty of aesthetically pleasing landscape to explore by foot.
